Group of two then.  I get frustrated with dentists (doctors, mechanics, 
builders, plumbers etc etc) who won't give me the technical dirt on what 
they are doing.  Yeah sure, dentistry isn't "pleasant" (it's a freekin 
medical intervention!) but step back, take in the technology around you 
in that chair : Drills : (i reckon dentist drills piss on dremels),  
Xrays, UV-setting resins, Fillings (how do they texture the top of the 
filling so it sits in the mouth without making you feel you are chewing 
a threaded bolt?), Novocain (how can it be so localised?), the 
Chairs!...it's all amazing stuff.  And if you focus on that stuff, it 
might make the pain more bearable.  (Dental hypnosis anyone?).

(Doesn't stop me viewing the average dentist with deepest suspicion tho 
- a hungover, sociopathic dentist at 8.45am was a highlight a few years 
ago.)
