OK folks, this is a *bit* of a rant.

First of all - does anyone use the Sydney Street NHS practice - In particular (I shouldn't name names here) the guy who works upstairs?

I've always found him ok. Really personable and thorough during previous check-ups. But today was the first time I'd needed any treatment (and I got a bit worried when the guy before me came down the stairs and said to his partner in the waiting room, 'god, that was a painful experience').

Some stupid Asda cereal bar (avoid them!) cracked a small molar. So one side of the tooth was loose around a central filling, just held by the gum. He removed this ok and did an x-ray. Put in a temporary filling. Didn't clean it out first - just a big load of amalgam (although it looks white in the mirror - what could that be?). But then he tries to pull the bib away from me while I'm still rinsing my mouth out.

So, I need to go back for further treatment. He couldn't say via the x-ray whether or not he could save the tooth and I could have a crown. Else it'd be yanked out and we're talking £2000+ for a prosthetic replacement.

But now I've lost confidence in him. So my question is, could anyone recommend a better practice in Brighton, or is private the best way to go, when you're likely to have to spend big bucks anyway?

Apologies for long email and rant - but I recall a few dental recommendations on here recently.

Thanks
R
