But you've just given an example of how downloaded music goes missing. 
I'm with Jim - why on earth wouldn't I want the CD? I half-heartedly 
started looking at buying music downloads, but I couldn't seem to find a 
site that would let me just buy some tracks. There was a raft of special 
deals but all with the most mind-boggling stings in the tail  - my 
favourite was paying a monthly subscription for unlimited downloads, but 
if you stopped the subs you lost all your music. So what, like I'm 
renting it or something?!

I think one outcome of the current cleansing financial flames is that 
all these bollocky business models will go the way of the monkeyed-up 
financial vehicles that started the mess - it really only needs to be a 
complex as "I give you some money, you give me a thing. I then keep the 
thing, you keep the money." Any deviation from this will fail, and good 
riddance.
