You might find it better to install a local caching DNS server in your
machine and use that.
DNS will only improve the time to start downloading an file. The smaller
the files involved, the bigger the impact slow DNS has. Several
mechanisms will mitigate the problem, like DNS caching in applications
and connection keep-alives, like in HTTP 1.1.
Improving DNS lookups will not make large downloads happen quicker; only
more bandwidth will do that.
