mmm what about if, say, you had turned down a much more lucrative offer
(e.g. 6 month deal) in order to honour your standing committment (e.g. 2
month deal), and that lucrative offer was not available anymore? A tricky
one as a lot of supposition involved, but I say this opportunity cost must
be considered in principle rather than in retrospect - being 'out of the
game' due to the order can mean many missed chances.
