I agree

I think a key reason why, in our society, we do not tend to react 
strongly to an obvious lack of democracy is that we are all kept 
distracted by the media and, in particular, consumerism.

Now that people are a little less well off and a little more worried 
about the roof over their heads, they are starting to pay attention to 
politics again.

I don't blame the rich and powerful (and their admin people - the 
politicians) for wanting to 'fix' the economy and quick - they're 
shitting themselves that we will all 'wake up' and overthrow them.

The French people are the most outspoken western democracy in this 
respect, I believe
