The BuildBrighton, the Brighton hackerspace, is a new community project to
create a space for physical computing. We meet every Thursday to come
together and work on our own projects, learn from one another and share
knowledge and ideas.
Brighton Robotics is Brighon's only non-academic robotics groups. We meet
monthly to share knowledge, listen to talks from experienced roboticists and
build robots with like minded people.

Brighton Robotics and BuildBrighton have been asked, as part of the
dConstruct festival, whether we would be willing to collaborate with Bristol
Dorkbots and put on a pre-conference event on Wednesday 2nd September. The
Bristol Dorkbot group have agreed and are currently figuring out a group
project that they can do to bring down to Brighton for the event, where we
can hold a sort of exhibition cum hack night for the two groups.

This is the first of what I hope will be many more, collaborations between
BuildBrighton and other electronics and robotics enthusiasts around the
country.

The hacknight will start from 7pm but the discussion about the collaboration
will not start until 8pm on Thursday 30th July. All meetings are at The
Skiff.

I propose that alongside the regular BuildBrighton hack night we get
together to discuss what we should do for the event.

We currently have 3 options as I see it.

One, we turn it into a 'project night' where every member of the group who
can make it to the event brings along the project (or projects) that they
have been working on for the last 6-9 months. We could then have a few
minutes each to talk about the project, it's inspiration and
technicallities.

Two we come up with a group project that we can collaborate on in the hack
nights and at other times as a special project for the dConstruct event.

Three - we do something else that one of you very clever and wonderful
robotbrightonians come up with.

As with all Brighton Robotics events there will be plenty of beer to quaff
and plenty of interesting people to chat to, so come along and be a part of
something great.
