Does any bank use email for confidential matters? I'd like to be told
instantly too rather than wait up to two business days (which could easily
be 5 calendar days from when the payment was made) for their letter
notifying me to arrive. I was in the bank arranging a transaction which
"could take from 4 days to 4 weeks to clear". I asked could they notify me
by email the moment the money was credited. Nope, couldn't do that, they'd
have to send me a letter. If they used secure email, when they composed the
letter they could just email it to me, in which case I'd know about it
minutes later, rather than putting it into their print queue for delivery at
leisure.

Maybe it's because using email wouldn't allow them to collect the GBP 3.30
"postage fee" that they charged (on top of commission) for their automated
letter.
