[BNM] Which CMS would you recommend if your were to use a popular one on the market?

MODx. Because the templating is so incredibly flexible you'll be
wondering what the hell the people that dreamt up the commonly used
block/panels metaphor were thinking. Once you try it you can't go back.

And if you're familiar with OO frameworks and like to use ORM then the
MODx Revolution code branch (currently in beta) would be the way to
go, since it combines an extremely impressive and fully customisable
admin interface, an extensive API for building custom stuff, and xPDO
for reverse-engineering your classes from an existing data model,
generating your CRUD, caching queries and so on.

Other similar options (ie full scale CMS built on top of a framework)
would be Silverstripe (less mature and limited fURL scheme) and the
forthcoming Expression Engine 2 (might be waiting a while for it but
looks bloody superb).

Drupal is a very sensible choice - very powerful, huge number of
modules - if you can be arsed to work with it's clunky theming. I can't.
