[BNM] MS SQL - DTS or SSIS

SSIS is the new name for DTS - kinda.

Using DTS/SSIS you can create a set of tasks to connect to a DB server and
pump over whatever you want - it's all fairly graphical and wizard based you
can also perform tasks on the data along the way (clean it, restructure it
etc). Depending on what you want to do it may be better to create an app
that does it for you.

If you have a .bak then you can just restore it to your local ms sql and go
from there - I guess it depends on what the destination server looks like -
