[BNM] Working with US tax regulations

Tom - hi - will you be physically based in the USA? As a limited company
myself I've done a lot of work for a company in San Francisco from here in
Hove without ever visiting their offices and the US tax question never came
up (although they're a 'proper' company) as the money was earned off US soil
and hence it was my responsibility to worry about tax rather than theirs.
I was very very careful to dictate the terms of the contract to dodge any
IR35 issues - anything that makes you look like an employee opens the
floodgates. I should add that I also found the Inland Revenue very helpful -
might be worth a call to them (or indeed a letter) to cover yourself just in
case.
If it turns out I'm wrong if you could all just deny you knew me while I
keep a low profile I'd be grateful:-)
Cheers

Subject: [BNM] Working with US tax regulations
Hey
Does anyone here have experience working as a limited company for US
businesses?
We're going through the set-up-with-procurements process and have been
told that we need to fill out a W-8 IRS tax document. There are lots
of variants of this doc and we have to get the right one - W-8BEN
looks like the right one to me, but is anyone else who's been through
this process able to confirm it for me?
Tom
