*About the Job*

Cactus is a worldwide language training organisation with offices in
Brighton (HQ) and an office in New York.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Web Designer to join our
team! You will be based at our Brighton office, located on North Street. The
right candidate will have a genuine passion and the right attitude to join
the well-established company.

The Web Designer is responsible for the architecture (structural design) and
visual design aspects of Cactus Worldwide web sites. This position will
design, develop and implement new features of the site. The Web Designer
must be versed in the importance of scalability, ensuring that new
information can be introduced without confusion. He/she will work with
individual departments of Cactus Worldwide to help them identify their needs
and will lead or co-lead project teams during implementation. This position
will participate in determining standards (i.e., color, typeface, sidebars,
menus, etc.) and will support and educate end users regarding such
standards. He/she will have skills using web editing and Graphic Design
software and be knowledgeable in HTML.

*Detailed Job Duties:*

   - Updating existing websites, working on improving the search engine
   performance of our portfolio.
   - Work with design team to create the overall look and feel of the Web
   sites and generates graphics and image optimization.
   - Responsible for design work on sites, including the gathering of all
   appropriate requirements from multiple business units, planning, analysis
   and design of web pages for inter/intranet applications.
   - Works with Creative team and Product Managers to understand their needs
   and translate them into designs.
   - Merges technical knowledge and creative input to develop well-designed,
   functional solutions.
   - Organizes content and tests site usability.
   - Monitors competitor web sites for content changes and differences,
   making recommendations for upgrades as needed.
   - Manages interfaces and perform audits to ensure content look and feel
   is consistent and fresh.
   - Leads or co-leads application development projects. Track and report
   project progress, status, and time in detail.
   - Presents status, plans, findings and recommendations orally or in
   writing, as appropriate.
   - Addresses HTML and scripting compatibility issues between different
   browsers and computing platforms.
   - Changes content into HTML and PHP documents, utilizing appropriate
   coding to ensure that long term maintenance and modifications are smooth and
   cost efficient.
   - Develops new HTML and PHP web pages working independently and directly
   with staff.
   - Performs technical programming and mark-up (XHTML and JavaScript
   coding) to create site's front end and dynamic web pages with database
   functionality.

*Required Skills:*

Minimum requirements include:

   - Relevant IT or Design degree. Or applicable work experience (applicable
   work experience may be substituted for formal education).
   - At least 2 years experience in web site design, XHTML, CSS, and
   Dreamweaver.
   - JavaScript, some database experience (SQL/MySQL), user-interface
   design, page layout, navigation, and interactive multimedia.
   - 2 or more years experience working on multiple projects in a team
   environment.
   - Must have the ability to communicate technical issues to a
   non-technical audience
   - Must have the ability to balance many needs, sometimes conflicting, and
   the ability to communicate and negotiate among department disciplines.
   - Must be detail oriented, customer focused, able to be self-sufficient
   and independent, able to multi-task and manage several projects at once.
   - Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
   - A genuine interest in languages.

*Salary and benefits:*
£19,000 – 22,000
