[BNM] rrrrgghh - why won't this centre?...

morning

so after a fantastic snowy dog walk and whilst my Springer sorts out  
the tennis ball sized lumps of snow attached to his feet... I'm back  
tearing my hair out with a CSS / HTML problem -  I just can't see why  
is going wrong?... :-(

the HTML is:

on MAC I.E 5.2 the container2 <div> item views correctly (centred and  
aligned top) but just the <cmscontainer> is 'left' aligned

but weirder: SAFARI / FIREFOX the <container2> content is dragged  
down the page by the margin settings of <cmscontainer> which is also  
also aligned left

am I missing something so bleeding obvious?
