Ever the wordsmith, Tom. How do you get on with client facing work? :)

I've found the WordPress instructions for exporting don't always work  
(following to the letter as far as I can see) but had a lot more fun  
using the DB export plugin from WordPress.org. Importing and migrating  
is ok after that if you're familiar with how WordPress works - i.e.  
it's a piece of cake once you've fumbled through it once - but if you  
can't afford downtime I'd do some reading on WordPress' site first,  
and maybe test with another non-vital install for practice.

If MySQL itself is installed on the server then creating databases or  
importing exported ones is relatively straightforward.
