Try the free version of SEO Spyglass. Instead of spying on your competitors
you can spy on yourself and find out some great information about incoming
links, anchor text,  which pages the anchor text links to etc.
Not sure what the terms are for the free version nowadays but when I got it
you could use it indefinitely but without all the features, such as saving
reports etc. There was more enough information for what I need though. And,
often, I'll use it in preference to the "paid for" tool I have. It reports
link ratios better, for example.
