[BNM] Virgin and VPNs

If he's getting the TV service as well, they will usually supply a set
top box which has a cable modem built in and you can connect an ethernet
cable between that and your router or computer.
If you ask/nag nicely they will supply a separate cable modem. In the
past some people have found the set top box to be a bit unreliable and
when replaced with a separate cable modem their problems have gone away.
I haven't heard anything like that in the last year or two though so
maybe they got better boxes built at some point.
I don't know if you can replace the cable modem with one you've bought
separately. You can unscrew their connection from it, but I have no idea
if they expect certain hardware to be on the end of their connection.
