[BNM] Itchy feet [ot]

Hey

I've got itchy feet (again) and an offer of work in L.A. if all goes 
well - Does anyone know the drill for working in the U.S. - I found the 
Canadian immigration a doddle but underrstand the US is a bit more 
fussy. It says in a few places that if you have an IT related degree etc 
then you're chances are much impoved. But does an offer of work from an 
American Co guarantee a spot or do I have to work for to company here 
for x amount of time before they take me over? I am googling like a loon 
but the language they talk on these sites isn't always decipherable.
