+1 for firstname.lastname@
On serious issue's we've found department heads from press articles and
emailed them directly with brilliant results.
Again on very serious ongoing "low-priority" problems like BT residential,
you need to get a direct number, and then call adjacent numbers in that
block of, say, 10 numbers to find someone else/someone more experienced.
If you send me more details of the prob I may still have some one in address
book to help.
Ta,
Leo

I don't know how badly they've messed up, but when they spent 3 weeks
cancelling my orders for new phone lines repeatedly and losing them in
"old systems", I emailed the CEO at the time (at the recommendation of
someone I know who works in an entirely different arm of BT). I'm not
sure who the CEO is now, but firstname.lastname at bt.com works, if I
recall.
He got someone from the chairmans office to sort out the problem, and
she was very competent and knew exactly whose backsides to kick. I had
a line 2 days later (and a decent amount of compensation on my bill).
