Thanks Jonathan,
I went with Hiscox who turned out to be cheaper than my quote (got the same
cover for £323). Your point about being able to do *any* job - I think I am
safe there - Can't think of many jobs I could do if I couldn't code with my
laptop....
Cheers,
Ali

Hi Ali,
That sounds pretty good to me, on the face of it. I pay just shy of
£400 per year for the same public liability / professional indemnity
levels, but you're getting disability / accident on top of that.
Worth checking the terms of that though - you may be better off with
a separate permanent health / loss of income policy (though that
would cost more - I pay about £350 a year for a similar level of
cover although the deal is that if I can't work (in my own role, not
in *any* role ;-), then after three months I get a monthly pay out
for as long as it takes to get better, which could be for the rest of
my life, not just 2 years. Main things to check are how long you have
to be unable to work before payments kick in, whether there are any
types of illness or accident that are excluded, and make sure the
policy applies to your own role - i.e. you get paid if you can't do
*your* job, so they can't decline to pay you if you're still capable
of being a supermarket checkout assistant or whatever.
I may of course be paying too much for my PI/PL - haven't checked
recently.
HTH,
Jon
