Here here! Excellent comment. I absolutely agree.
I find it disgusting that the voice of such an insipid few can have
such a devastating effect on culture.
The people, for example, who moaned and moaned about the live music
at the famous, long established and iconic Freebutt and managed to
close it down.
The original Concorde being knocked down and having a Burger King
put in its place.
Starbucks, Sainsbury's and Carluccios having pride of place at the
brand new New England Quarter.
The list goes on and on and on.
What is happing to our town? (I still refuse to call it a city).
Kind regards,
Jeremy Norton

Might be worth putting up a comment with a note whether you're for
or
against it - I tried sending the comment below but their comments
form seems
broken :(

Hi.
In respons to your article dated 26th Nov 2008.
Let's all jump on one of the only good things this city had to offer
this
summer and make sure it doesn't happen again. Let's kill off all of
the
things that made Brighton what it is and make it so neutral that all
the
talented, skilled, proffessional and fun loving people of this city
do an
about turn and head somewhere else. Lets make the city so drab that
no one
except wannabes, dimwits and the has beens want to live here. Let's
twin
with Worthing and make the place a chav playground also suitable for
the
exceedingly old to come to for their last days before death. Let's
take away
all the bootique shops, laines cafes, bars and restaurants and
replace them
with Boots, Curries and BHS. Finaly lets paint our city white. Make
it
invisible and errase any proof that the city was actually once a
fun,
beautiful, different, young, vibrant and inspiring place to live,
work and
grow a family.
Do it - go on. Let's start with the Beachdown festival. Let's use
our cities
paper as the voice for this new movement. Any takers?
