[BNM] Weird mod rewrite problem

Hmmm, is this a RewriteBase issue?  Is there aliasing to virtual file 
paths on the web server which is causing all rewrite URLs to be 
incorrectly assembled?  Is the error message referring to a file system 
location?  In which case it's looking for a file under root, and thus 
highly unlikely to be accessible to the web server user.
