What gives you that impression?
I go to their site, download the .deb file for the Closed Source
version, and it installs.
If I want the open source version I type "aptitude install
virtualbox-ose" into my console and wait 15 seconds or so for it to
download and install.
If it's more difficult on Mac then hey, what can I say. You should use
something easy like Linux ;)
