S,
I recently grabbed andrewgill.com (my name). It was owned by someone (a
"domainer") who owned over 30,000 domain names... He was auctioning the name
(for $$$ stupid money) but had let it go into redemption stage.
According to GoDaddy the existing domain registrar is able to grab the
domain name before other domain catchers. So I decided to use GoDaddy Back
Order service who successfully grabbed it! It was a very long process taking
92 days after the expiry date.
The GoDaddy website is very messy but I found their telephone support to be
very good.
My domain was a .com TLD operated by Network Solutions so the time scales
and operation may be different for .co.uk TLD.
Good luck.
cheers,
Andrew Gill
