pool.com have a domain lifecycle graphic at
http://www.pool.com/help/faq.aspx?lifecyle=1 - it generally takes a
couple of months for the domain to be released back to the market.
Note that each registrar have their own ways of dealing with the
domain lifecycle, so this is a guide more than a strict timetable.
In my experience, backorder the domain using godaddy or pool.com by
all means, but when it finally gets released it immediately gets
picked up by a 'drop catcher' who stuffs it full of google ads and
waits to see what the traffic / revenue is like, and whether anyone
will pay them hard cash for the domain.
if the site doesn't make enough traffic and they don't get any offers
then it gets dropped again - after perhaps just a week or two - at
which time hopefully your backorder service picks it up.
