Hi all,
I was hoping someone might be able to offer some advice on a possibly
bizarre situation.
I had a accident back in late 2006 which resulted in my laptop as a
write off.
(If you're interested in pointing and laughing, I blogged it back
then: http://remysharp.com/2006/12/14/the-delicate-apple/ )
As such, it was sent to an independent insurance claims validator (not
sure what their real names are - but the chaps who allow the claim to
go through).
I was eventually told that the machine was irreparable, and a new one
would be purchase from Apple.
I enquired about the hard drive - since there was personal and
business documents on it (I know, I could have formatted it, but I
honestly expected them to repair the screen) - and I was told, in no
uncertain terms that the hard drive would be incinerated as per their
policy.
Low and behold - 1 year later, I receive an email from a guy saying:
"You dont know me but i bought an apple powerbook from ebay and it has
some documents of yours on. i guess it must have been yours at one
point."
If this turns out to be my drive, I'll be extremely pissed that I had
be lied to.
Can anyone offer any advice, or suggestions as to how I should proceed
with action - in particular again the insurance company (or the
validators)?
Thanks,
Remy Sharp
