[BNM] Moving wordpress blogs from subdomains

Hi

I've had on my "to do "list from some months now the moving of 3 wordpress
blogs on sub domains, to their own domains. Whilst researching how to do
this this morning it suddenly struck me "why am I doing this?"  I've made
the assumption it would be better for the blogs to sit on their own domains.
They are all on completely separate topics. But, then I wondered if this is
really necessary. I've assumed that, in the name of neatness this would be
better and that by moving them they would load faster. Or, maybe, when I
added the task to my "to do" list I had some valid reason for doing so which
I've since forgotten. So, my question is:

In what circumstances would you deem it beneficial or necessary to move a
wordpress blog from a subdomain to it's own domain?
