I'd pretty much agee with you Paul.

I see the real problem with all self-assesment forms like this is that many
of the people who rate themselves most highly are the least competent. As
while they may have some competency in the technology, they do not have
enough to be competent to assess their ability overall.

i.e. How many people thought they really knew javascript before they even
knew that 'prototype' existed? Similar levels of incompetence exist in most
areas of technology.

I used brainbench www.brainbench.com for a few years (for myself and my
staff at the time), and highly rated their testing
methodology/certifications.

I see their subscription charges look quite reasonable again (ISTR it went a
bit mad at one point).
