[BNM] [OT] Can anybody recommend a surveyor?

You don't have to use theirs. In fact, I would strongly recommend that you
don't (unless going for the minimum legal valuation) as they tend to be a
sack of crap... my Barclays one was, anyway. Basically, every area on the
£600 survey said "recommend you get a full *whatever* survey done" for
damp, guttering, everything. About the only thing they did confirm was
that the floor under carpet was all hardboard... and when I took it up to
lay new carpets recently, half of it turned out to be concrete. So I could
have tiled, had I not already bought carpet...

Anyway, I would strongly suggest going independent with someone who
doesn't know they're going to get more work automatically (i.e. from a
bank) no matter how crap a job they do.
