[BNM] Safari CSS / Scriptaculous

Hi good bnm folks,

The problem I have appears to be because the designers require that I have a menu which overlaps the bounding box of a scriptaculous slide show, I am currently doing this overlap with a negative top margin, all works fine in IE and FF but in Safari (on windows and mac) the links in the menu are not clickable or selectable - at first I thought it must be a z-index issue, tried that but still no worky....

Can anyone elaborate on what might be causing this blockage and how to fix?
