[BNM] visual studio dsp file -are they just project info?

Hi

I'm not really a big visual studio user but I have it installed.

Someone has sent me a DSP file which I'm pretty sure is a visual 
studio/VC++ project file of some kind. Am I right in thinking that it's 
just some kind of 'manifest' or similar and that it doesn't actually 
contain any C++/Cpp files (just info about them and what's required to 
compile maybe)?
