When AVG 8 first came out, there was a problem with when accessing web
sites.  Basically, it slowed access down, so Grisoft recommended that you
disable the web scanner, until they released an update, which I think they
now have, as I have AVG 8 Free working just fine on XP and Vista.

I am running AVG 8 free version on a Vista laptop, 2 desktops and a HTPC
- no problems at all.
