I really liked the look of Magento... So last week i installed it on a
shared hosting platform... the performance for me was VERY VERY slow. I was
using a shared host (Pair.com) - in the end, the performance was so bad I
concluded it was almost unusable.

It's a shame as Magento looks like a great product. Reading the Magento
forums this is a known issue that they're trying to fix - apparently the
main problem is that just displaying the home page is 40+ queries on the
database.

Ofcourse, if you're using a high spec dedicated or slice server then the
performance might be fine.
