[BNM] href target='_blank' open in a new window - is it a no-no

Hello,

I think this is more of an opinion than a yes or no but ...

Is opening a link in a window a no-no in design terms. I've been asked to 
allow documents supporting applications to be opened in a new window (pdfs 
and docs). This will allow the selectors to alt-tab between documents 
rather than clicking back and opening another document.

I can see the reason for doing it i.e. the selector will have an easier 
time swapping between documents and hopefully printing off less!

This is kind of in an intranet.
