[BNM] Death to s/facebook/fedbook and the great CIA social data mining exercise

But does anyone really think the CIA (or FBI or MI5 or Al Quieda or Mossad
or whowerver) really need to own facebook (or anyother social network site)
to have access to all the info?
The worry about an individuals info is entirely missing the point, cos they
can get that anyway if they really want to.
The datamining is where the concern should be -- using vast amounts of data
to identify where to gently lean on public opinion just enough to get an
outcome that serves 'their' interests rather than 'ours' - however this
'weapon' only works when one side has an advantage over the other - make
data freely available and such attacks can be avoided - alternatively spoil
the data (plenty of mis-information) and the butterfly will have no chance
of flapping its wings in the right place.
