CRT has a High Tension (read that as 10-12KV) circuit. It will bite even
after switching off. Usually you need to discharge by earthing the unit
(plugged in switched on but switched off at wall socket). Then use car
jump lead attached to earth frame and the blade of well insulated
screwdriver. Slide that under the HT cap on side of monitor. Have made a
guest appearance on other side of room when fiddling with TV's myself I
recommend you make sure there is nothing painful to land on behind you
and someone else is there to capture it on you tube / phone emergancy
services.
