[BNM] Font aliasing in browsers

This is a slightly newbie question, but just something I've never noticed
before. I made a flash/php contact form for someone, and chose 'Use Device
Fonts' in Flash (CS3) before publishing (in a compatible Flash 8 format...
all browsers have latest Flash players). The thing is, on Vista in Firefox
the font doesn't match as it isn't aliased at all, and on Leopard in Firefox
it does, because the text appears to be aliased, and this seems weird that
it'd be different... thinking out loud, I'm wondering if Mac OS' text
aliasing is kicking in...
My next question is whether there are any reliable techniques to get your
text looking good in browsers (I have messed about with sIFR, to little
success).
Lastly, and this might be the case, am I screwing up by using px not pt in
my CSS? I have read that this will kill aliasing on some fonts.
Cheers in advance! This is a topic that I should know about, and have
neglected a bit...
