Thank you all for the good advice. You've succeeded in scaring me into some
immediate action.

One further question, getting more into specifics, the excuse I keep getting
from this particular company is that they cannot authorise payment until
their (near-mythical) financial controller returns. He seems to be out of
the country/ill/on holiday indefinitely whenever there are invoices to be
paid.

I know I'm being spun a line on this, but is it legal for them to claim to
only have one person who can authorise payments?
