Thats true, at work I've been using various Thinkpad's over the past 5 years
and too be honest I'm quite impressed aside from the odd hard drive failure.
They may not look pretty, but the build quality and features overall are
good.
I'm writing this on a X61 at the moment - keyboard is very good, and its a
great option if you are looking for something portable with 5 hour battery
life.
