[BNM] Laptop mousepad problem

Hi all

 

I've been asked to take a look at a mate's lappy - can't remember for
the life of me the make / model - which has got an issue whereby you
can't control the cursor with the mousepad - it keeps disappearing off
to the bottom left hand corner. Says he's tried a USB mouse with it but
that made no difference.

 

Anyone come across this before? I've had a quick Google and seen various
suggestions from disabling the mousepad in the BIOS to dismantling the
lappy and cleaning the crap out from under the mousepad to reinstalling
drivers to physically bending the laptop from corner to corner! I'm
waiting to hear the exact make / model in case it's a specific prob with
that laptop, but in the meantime if the BNM collective psyche has any
words of wisdom they'd be greatly appreciated.
