[BNM] laptops - your suggestions?

Hi all. Boring request I know, and one that has no doubt come up time and again on this list but I want to buy a laptop and I feel overwhelmed by the choice I'm facing. I want:

- A fairly large memory
- Long lasting battery
- A medium-sized screen 
- To be able to watch DVDs on it
- To spend around 300-400 quid

Basic stuff really.

Thanks for any suggestions, either about which one to go for or which ones to avoid.

My laptop has 5% battery left and only works when plugged in so time is of the essence!
