Hey Mike,
Student Loans Company.
I studied when I was 25-29 and they were quite happy to throw cash at me
(does depend on the level of the qualification though)
That can cover tuition fees, and help with living costs, plus you can defer
for eternity.
The £1600 she needs to pay may well already be subsidised. Fees are usually
in the 3k+ range, but you usually have to pay a portion of it yourself, so
thats prolly what that amount is.
Dont know if there's anything extra she can get if she's a single parent,
but the Uni should be able to offer all the advice she needs regarding that.
I struggled for a bit when I went back to study, but its well worth the
hassle, and its not forever. Also the holidays come round pretty quickly, so
work is always an option then.
