Best bar I've ever been to is 230 on Fifth which is, you guessed it,
number 230 on 5th Avenue. Get in an elevator, go to the top, and enjoy
views of Manhattan from the gardens while you drink. http://230-fifth.com/

Second best is The Brandy Library near Franklin St. (and our office -
funny, that!) in Tribeca. It's amazing, chilled, quiet, and has leather
cushions along the bar?!? There's a piano and some guy playing jazz while
you drink, and when I went there it was just me and a friend in the whole
plcae. http://www.brandylibrary.com/

Around the corner on Greenwich Street is a restaurant called Industria
Argentina, which I love (in fact, am going there on Wednesday!) and does
good cow. Not recommended for vegetarians, to be honest...

... also, the circular tour on a boat is a good one, if it's clear.
Seconded to avoid the Empire State like the plague unless you like
queueing and staring through catchfences. Top of the Rock rocks. Oh, and
there's a tiny little illegal looking place called the Pakistani Teahouse
somewhere on Church or Hudson, which does the best curry you'll ever eat
for about a quid. Something stupid like that.

I'll shut up now! (there are dozens of other places to mention, n' more
that I've never been to, anyway)
