[BNM] Visual Basic weirdness

Hi,

We have a CD-ROM which has a couple of VB-based programs that are
launched from links in a Powerpoint slide (don't ask). The programs
launch fine when the PPT file is opened from Windows Explorer, but
fail to run when the PPT is opened from a shortcut in the Start menu.

I even followed 'Find Target' in the shortcut's properties to make
sure that it was definitely launching the same file, and it is. Both
VB executables chuck out different 'Path Not Found' errors when they
fail.

Does anyone have any idea what's going wrong, or is this just another
one of Windows XP's 'eccentricities'? Is there some invisible
difference between running a file from Windows Explorer and from a
Start menu shortcut!?

Thanks,
Barry
