But I recently got a complaint about one of my sites because it's PR was
getting too close to the competition!
Yep duplicate content is a no-no – what usually happens though is that
Google looks at the two sites, sees which one has the higher linking
popularity and then knocks the other one out (assume that one must be the
knock-off). You’re being a bit clever though if you’re gathering content
from multiple sources. That’s harder to detect for them and pretty much the
scraper model. If you stick in some user content you will be fine, unless
someone throws a DMCA at you.
You don’t seem to be copying too much on the (very) few searches I did -
HYPERLINK "http://tinyurl.com/24lova"http://tinyurl.com/24lova. Mix and
match is the name of that game (better termed mashups in Web 2.0. circles
heh).
I think they were probably complaining because you were ranking near them
with a similar name – yes? If you built up your link popularity you would
probably rank above them for terms like ‘Brighton Reiki’. In which case
tough luck – I doubt very much ‘Brighton Reiki’ has been trademarked by them
so it’s fair game.
