Thanks Mat. I'd love to run with this but I have an irrational fear of
foreign hosting - irrational because I can't find the fact to prove that it
would affect localised SERPs.
I'm currently considering the slightly pricier
http://rimuhosting.com/order/startorder1.jsp?type=10 since they were kind
enough to rescue jquery.com after their previous hosts banned them after
becoming DDOS victims.

I was about to make up my mind on this too until rimu told me "
In order to run Plesk you are going to need the MiroVPS4 plan with at
least 288MB of RAM, due to its memory requirements. Depending on the
traffic on your web sites you may need more memory. Memory can be added
on the fly at any time (it only requires a reboot).

Our VPS in the London data centre is a little less affordable that the
ones in Dallas: http://rimuhosting.com/order/startorder1.jsp?type=10

If you can manage with webmin (www.webmin.com) as a control panel
instead of plesk, you'll save money and memory. Also Plesk imposes some
software/version restrictions on the server (mail server, php, mysql)."

So I might go with that suggestion if it offers more flexibilty,

Let me know if you're interested because there's some referral codes which

Still wavering, sorry!
