Our version is included in our rental and we buy upgrades to bolt on.

Personally I wouldn't want auto updates done on a server. I want to know
when and where to look for changes and it to be in our control - nothing
worse than an update in your busy period than means you need to make changes
to 10 sites! Spam Assassin is working much better on here compared to the
last version and you can have that updated automatically with a script I
believe.

Shop around for hosts - we have a great bunch who are small enough to be
flexible.

Aptget - c'mon I'm a designer!
Heh heh as a non techie, it allows me and other idiots to do techie stuff.
