[BNM] Setting up a wireless LAN

I'm having trouble finding any good reference as to how to set up a 
wireless LAN for a couple of laptops. They are both happily using a 
wireless internet connection, but I'd like them to be able to see each 
other. I've googled all I can think of/understand but my knowledge is 
clearly so woeful that I don't even know the right words to use. The 
shame......

Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.
