when I drank  I used to figure, based on the old adage that you should
drink as much water as you do wine, that I should drink half as much
water as I did beer.  which seemed to work a treat, in that if I was
so drunk/tired/emotional that I forgot, I seemed to suffer more.  If I
had drunk so much beer that I couldn't remember how many pints I
had/couldn't divide that figure by two, I just drank as much water as
I could.  of course you're prob'ly risking that condition where you
die from drinking too much water, but that wasn't such big news back
then.  Ahhhh, those weren't the days.
