Hi Pete,

-- 20 days? I have a day in mind...is that feasible? Has anyone gone
through a custom installation?

Yes we did that for a client – was an absolute nightmare. Be prepared for
the following:

1) Almost no instructions
2) When you do find documentation, expect it to be wrong or very poorly
written
3) A Sandbox (developer) zone that gives you different results from the
live version (finally support admitted they wouldn’t suggest doing ‘test’
transactions with PPP yet – we had to do real ones all the way).

20 days would be about right – we took it on for 6 days but it should have
been 20 after all the delays on emails/forum posts and Skype conversations
with PayPal support. Done a couple since then and now 6 days is comfortable.

PayPal basically just bought this system from Verisign and haven’t had time
to get it integrated into their other offerings or get the bugs ironed out
yet. Support are well aware of the *many* issues.

Additionally, as far as I can tell, this system doesn't required SSL on
the host web server - I assume the sensitive transmissions are handled
via AJAX over SSL, directly from the client browser to the paypal
payment server. Is that right?

My developer says no – it’s not needed. You send the transmission over to
PayPal’s https connection but all our clients so far have had SSL anyway.

Best Regards,

P please consider the environment - do you really need to print this email?
