[BNM] [OT] Hard disk vs mini-DV

Mini-DV.

For storage/archive a miniDV would be useful even if you were using an HD
camera :-)

With firewire transfer, grabbing an entire tape to disk is not a major
exercise - and even the windows freebie can do a batch capture and
automatically chop the different clips into separate files if you like.

I suppose miniDV would have to count as less robust, as it opens and may get
dust etc in (just like anything), and then there are magnets which aren't
good for tape (or heads) - but as far as I know the quality is still way
better on MiniDV.

And of course you have the convenience of never running out of recording
space on a long holiday...
